Sociology Of Male Menopause: Does Male Menopause Leads To Behavioral Changes?

The phase of menopause in a man's life starts around the age of forty. For quite some time, men refused to accept the sociology of a male menopause. The term "menopause" was associated with women in their middle age. The idea that men could lose their potency with age could just not be digested by most men and some have a problem accepting this idea even today. But, medical research has proved that men do definitely go through menopause. This is the period when the level of their male hormone testosterone decreases. This hormonal change leads to a lot of other physical, psychological and sexual changes in a man, which in turn lead to certain behavioral changes and this is referred to as sociology of a male menopause. Let us try to understand the sociology of a male menopause in detail.

On the onset of menopause, men start becoming more irritable and get annoyed at the smallest of things. They start feeling that the entire world is a conspiracy against them and feel lonely and unloved. Even the slightest bit of criticism can make them grumpy. They become more anxious and fearful of the uncertainties of life. They can become quite a terror to be around.

Menopause also brings with it edginess and mood swings. One moment, you could be laughing over something and the next moment you could be feeling lower than the depths of hell. The depression that comes along with menopause can then take the form of anger and you may find yourself yelling at your colleagues, kids or wife more often than you used to. The smallest act of disobedience may be enough to tick you off.

With all the yelling around that you do, you are bound to attract a lot of relationship problems. You may find more people hating you at work, your kids may just turn rebellious and no longer want to spend time with you or your wife and you may constantly be bickering with each other and blaming each other for things that never even mattered earlier. One of the most common considerations of this phase is a change of job or a divorce.

But, this is not all about sociology of a male menopause. Your bedroom life may become really bad as you are no longer as interested in sex as you earlier were. Getting an erection takes longer and it becomes more difficult for your partner to turn you on than it earlier was. This may then lead to fights with your partner about sex, love and physical intimacy. You may start blaming each other for this lack of sexual satisfaction and this can in turn lead to more relationship problems. You may also start fantasizing about having intimate relations with other and younger partners, making matters worse for you.

In other words, menopause can bring about quite significant changes in a man's behavior towards others and he may constantly find himself in trouble with the people around him. Relationships start becoming a burden. But, this is also a phase of life and once you get used to the sociology of a male menopause and changes that changing hormonal levels bring in your life, things will become manageable once again.
